Divorce Matter

An agreement, whether made before or after marriage, that grants the wife the liberty to divorce herself under specified contingencies is valid, provided the conditions are reasonable and not contrary to the policy of Muslim Law. When such an agreement is in place, the wife may exercise this power and repudiate herself at any time after the occurrence of any of the specified contingencies. In such a case, the divorce will take effect just as if the husband had pronounced talaq.
